ABOUT US

HISTORY OF NIGERIA PROGRESSIVE ORGANIZATION

It is on a fateful day after the burial of our friend Mr. Abiodun Ogundipe, popularly known among his contemporaries as Abbey. We convened at Mr. Jimoh Williams’ apartment at 7903 S. Kingston where we had the repass and NPO was launched in 1986. We brainstormed, planned, and developed a better plan to be able to assist and be supportive of he family of the deceased.

Now the problem of where the meetings will be held reared its ugly head, but God always has his way of working things out if you believe and trust in Him Mr. Rafiu Ajayi, who later became Mr. Hughes (General Secretary) contacted fellow educator Mr. Y.A. Dosunmu, who helped to secure a place for NPO meetings at Kennedy King College. He later helped to monitor and observe our elections. During the growth of NPO.

On may 29, 2001, NPO purchased a property at 8847 on S. Colfax. It was an achievement, a first step to catapult into different opportunities to do for ourselves and our community.
